Biography
Barcelona, 1960. He studied guitar in his hometown where he also specialized in historical instruments, notably Theorbo, Baroque Guitar and Vihuela, and has been a student of masters of international renown, David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Hopkinson Smith and Rolf Lislevand. His career is unfolding simultaneously, in three areas: concerts, recordings, and education.
As a concert led to favorable reviews in all his performances in Spain, France, Italy, England, Switzerland, Russia, Czech Republic, Romania, United States, Central America and South America and Egypt. He has collaborated with Le Concert des Nations, conducted by Jordi Savall. It currently participates with great success at the festival “Maestros de la Guitarra Española”, in which performs over 120 concerts a year.
He has recorded two solo CDs: “Encuentro” (Tárrega, Albéniz) and “Tres siglos” (from the Renaissance to romanticism, with historical instruments), and six CDs with flutist Montserrat Gascon and one with the Margarida Lladó mezzo-soprano, and has participated in the recording of CDs from the integral of Joaquín Rodrigo for the EMI label. It has also participated in the recording of the DVD of the opera L’Orfeo by C. Monteverdi, produced by the BBC, with Jordi Savall.
Since 2003 he is Professor in the Escola Superior of music of Catalunya (ESMUC). Awarded in prestigious international competitions, criticism has highlighted his refined technique, his musical rigour and, especially, has valued its great capacity to generate feelings through his passionate performances.
